Principal Solution Architect - US Enterprise, Amazon Shipping
About The Position
This role is a strategic technical leadership position within Amazon Shipping, focusing on the largest enterprise customer engagements. The Principal Solution Architect will own the end-to-end technical relationship with these customers, from initial pre-sales conversations through to delivery. This involves leading technical discovery, defining target architectures for customer integration with Amazon Shipping, and ensuring these integrations are scalable, secure, and performant. The role requires advising senior and executive stakeholders, shaping their broader integration strategy, and acting as a trusted technical advisor. A key aspect is creating lasting capabilities such as reference architectures and integration patterns that can be reused. The position also involves feeding insights from customer engagements back into Amazon Shipping's API roadmap and platform direction, and representing Amazon Shipping as a technical thought leader in various forums.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or equivalent
- Experience developing technology solutions and evangelizing end-to-end technology roadmaps that guide IT transformations toward cloud computing
- Experience communicating across technical and non-technical audiences and at C-level, including training, workshops, publications
- 10+ years of experience in enterprise-scale, technology-driven solutions in logistics, shipping, or supply chain technology
- Deep expertise in API development, REST, cXML, EDI, and integration patterns
- Proven ownership of enterprise integrations across TMS, WMS, ERP, and OMS systems
- Strength in technical discovery: turning ambiguous, undefined problems into a clear architecture
- Strategic influence with customer executives and IT leadership, not just engineers
- A record of building reusable mechanisms (reference architectures, governance) that scale past one deal
- Thought leadership through industry forums, publications, and developer communities
- Strategic thinking that connects technical decisions to customer business outcomes
- Customer obsession with a hands-on, get-it-done approach

Responsibilities
- Own the technical relationship with large enterprise customers end to end, from pre-sales discovery through delivery, as their strategic technical advisor.
- Lead technical discovery and align the customer's TMS, WMS, ERP, and OMS systems on a single target architecture, staying hands-on through implementation.
- Advise customer Director and VP stakeholders, and drive clarity where the business objective and integration strategy are not yet defined.
- Design enterprise-grade shipping integrations using REST APIs, cXML, and EDI, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
- Act as the escalation point for the hardest architectural challenges across the engagement.
- Build reusable reference architectures, integration patterns, and governance that other architects and customers adopt without you in the room.
- Feed field insight into Amazon Shipping's API roadmap and platform direction.
- Represent Amazon Shipping as a technical thought leader in customer and industry forums.
