This is your opportunity to join the Missile Defense Sensors (MDS) Software Team in Woburn, Massachusetts as a Section Leader. The MDS Department mission is to provide world class Radar and Command and Control Software for our customer's wide array of Surveillance and Warning Systems. We align to the core Agile and DevSecOps principles of collaborative operation across the entire value stream, delivering high-frequency, high-quality deployments to our customers. We strive for technical excellence by drawing upon a talented workforce whose knowledge base covers the complete spectrum of modern computing languages and platforms. The job location for this opportunity is onsite in Woburn, Massachusetts.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
  • Experience in software development, integration or test using C, C++, Java, or Ada.
  • Experience developing software in a team-based development environment, preferably using the Agile Scrum or Kanban framework.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a technical leader or team lead on software development, integration or test activities on a defense software development program.
  • Strong communication and mentoring skills, both technically and professionally.
  • Ability to effectively interact with subordinates, customers, and other internal organizations.
  • High energy, self-starting team player who achieves goals and continuous improvement.
  • Radar domain knowledge (EWR, AN/TPY-2, XBR, CK, DBR, AMDR, etc.).
  • Software Cost estimation experience.
  • Six Sigma, CORE, EVMS, Software Project Management Certification and PMX certifications.

Responsibilities

  • The MDS Department Section Leader will have a technical role on a program and will provide guidance and leadership to a section of 15 to 20 Engineers.
  • The candidate will act as a key leader and mentor in the department, employing leadership, presence and influence skills while fostering teamwork and interdependent execution.
  • Responsible for the sustainment, assessment and development of the section.
  • Ensure section members adhere to policy, vision, values and goals.
  • Communicate flow-down to section members.
  • Performance development which includes collecting and providing performance feedback to section members.
  • Support section member’s yearly performance goal development.
  • Support section salary and labor planning.
  • Career and job assignment mentoring.
