About The Position

At FIS, the Principal Software Engineer will lead adoption of the Frontend Platform used by product teams across the company. The platform includes the design systems, frameworks, and shared components behind thousands of screens in banking, payments, and capital markets. The role owns the migration path from legacy frameworks to the new platform and the technical relationship with teams that depend on it. The engineer will plan and drive large-scale migrations, retire legacy technology and related costs, and use feedback from consuming teams to make the platform easier to adopt. Success is measured by faster adoption, lower legacy and licensing costs, and trust in the platform across FIS.

Requirements

Extensive experience building production-grade web applications at enterprise scale.
Advanced expertise in Angular or React, with working depth in the other.
Experience leading large framework migrations or modernization efforts across many teams.
Experience with design systems, component libraries, or shared frontend platforms used by other teams.
Proven technical leadership, including leading distributed or offshore teams.
Clear communication with engineers, product managers, and executives, and ability to influence without authority.
Hands-on experience with AI coding tools and a point of view on how they change migration and maintenance work.
Degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice To Haves

Experience in banking, payments, or financial services.
Background in developer relations, solutions architecture, or customer engineering.
Experience with automated code transformation, including codemods and AST tooling, at scale.
Experience managing enterprise software licenses and vendor renewals.
Familiarity with frontend observability, application security scanning, and dependency management.
Familiarity with secure software development practices for regulated financial environments.

Responsibilities

Lead migration of product teams across FIS from legacy Angular frameworks to React and the new design system.
Build migration playbooks, codemods, reference implementations, and AI-assisted tooling to make migrations easier.
Own technical relationships with consuming teams, including intake, triage, escalations, and service levels during US business hours.
Make adoption and support load visible through metrics and use those metrics to shape the platform roadmap.
Lead a global engineering team spanning US and India time zones.
Keep legacy frameworks secure and stable while teams migrate, then retire them.
Rationalize shared frontend tooling and enterprise licenses, including AG Grid, across FIS.
Resolve complex production, integration, performance, and security issues in consuming applications.
Turn recurring issues into platform fixes, documentation, and self-service tooling.
Partner with engineering, product, security, and leadership across FIS to set migration priorities and timelines.
Coach engineers on React, modern frontend engineering, and AI-assisted development.
