About The Position

Space Ground System Solutions has an immediate full-time opening for a Principal Software Engineer. The position will be responsible for development of common ground software for satellite command, control and telemetry monitoring.

Requirements

• Must have an active DoD Secret security clearance
• Must be a U.S. citizen
• Bachelor's Degree in relevant field (i.e., Computer Science, Software Engineer, Information Technology)
• Ten (10) or more years of software engineering/development experience using in a Linux environment
• Proficiency developing and testing software in a Linux environment
• Knowledge of industry practices, techniques and standards
• Proficiency with programming languages C, C++, Python.
• Proficiency with UI's
• Solid understanding of networking technology, TCP/IP and common internet application protocols

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Satellite Ground Systems, Ground System Operations, or Satellite Operations
• Experience using Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
• Excellent troubleshooting skills
• Experience documenting test results for corrective actions
• Experience using software configuration management tools (examples: git, BitBucket, Jira, etc.)
• Experience interacting with databases (examples: MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, Redis, etc.)
• Experience writing scripts (examples: shell scripting, python, PERL, etc.)
• Familiarity with virtualization and cloud technologies (examples: AWS, OpenStack, VMware, RHEV, etc.)
• Familiarity with web technologies (examples: HTML, CSS, React, REST, JSON, WildFly, etc.)
• Familiarity with messaging servers (examples: ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ, WebSphereMQ, ZeroMQ, GMSEC, etc.)

Responsibilities

• Experience with C2 systems.
• Leadership experience
• Develop software using C/C++/golang in a RHEL Linux environment
• Design and implement software for large-scale command and control systems
• Troubleshoot and report software anomalies
• Work in a team environment, leading a small team of developers
• Apply agile development practices and techniques to adapt rapidly to changing requirements and schedules
