About The Position

The Principal, Software Engineer leads the design and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, driving cloud-native architecture and distributed system solutions that support long-term business objectives. This role oversees the full software development lifecycle across multiple teams, integrating AI/ML technologies to enhance product functionality. The position requires strategic technical leadership, mentorship, and collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders to translate complex challenges into actionable solutions. The Principal Engineer champions innovation, continuous improvement, and operational excellence while ensuring alignment with organizational goals and maintaining high standards of quality and integrity. About the team: The replenishment input team focuses on delivering precise inventory, network, item, and settings data to support timely and accurate fulfillment decisions. This team gathers, validates, enriches, and aggregates critical information to enable effective decision-making. Collaborating across functions, the team applies advanced technical skills in cloud-native architecture, system design, and AI integration to build scalable, reliable platforms. Members contribute to continuous improvement by leveraging innovation and problem-solving expertise, ensuring solutions align with business goals and operational needs while maintaining high standards of quality and performance.

Requirements

  • Expereince with Java (Full Stack) and Spring Boot microservices development
  • Hands-on experience with Apache Spark for large-scale batch and streaming data processing
  • Experience building and operating Apache Kafka event-driven architectures
  • Solid understanding of distributed NoSQL databases — Cassandra and/or Cosmos DB
  • Experience developing and deploying solutions on GCP (BigQuery, Dataproc, Pub/Sub, or equivalent)
  • Expereince in writing clean, testable, production-quality code with CI/CD pipelines
  • Knowledge with grasp of distributed systems concepts — CAP theorem, consistency models, fault tolerance
  • Experience with WCNP / Kubernetes container deployments
  • Familiarity with data quality frameworks or catalog/item data domains
  • Knowledge of Change Data Capture (CDC) patterns
  • Exposure to dbt, Airflow, or Dataflow for pipeline orchestration
  • Experience in a high-scale e-commerce or retail tech environment
  • Extensive experience in platform engineering leadership, delivering scalable, cloud-native architectures and reusable tooling.
  • Proven ability to drive full software development lifecycle including coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and incident response.
  • Expereince in AI/ML integration and building intelligent software systems using languages such as Python, Java, and C++.
  • Skilled in technical solution design, model-driven design, and applying engineering design processes.
  • Demonstrated leadership in mentoring engineers and influencing architectural decisions for maintainability and interoperability.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Effective collaboration and communication across cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Option 2: 7 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams, promoting best practices and innovation.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical requirements and success metrics based on business and user needs.
  • Ensure high-quality deliverables through sound technical judgment and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to all levels of audiences and foster cross-team collaboration.
