Principal Software Engineer, Transform
About The Position
At FloQast, we aren't just building tools; we are crafting the "Operating System for Accounting." As a Principal Software Engineer on the Transform team, you are a primary architect of this vision. This is a role for a technical visionary who thrives on solving "impossible" distributed systems problems and understands that the best code is the kind that empowers an entire engineering organization to move faster. You won't just be "coding"—you’ll be defining the technical North Star for FloQast Transform, our centralized hub where accountants can create, test, deploy, and manage bespoke AI Agents. You will drive step-function improvements in how we deliver our Visual Agent Builder and empower global brands to automate complex workflows without touching a line of code. This is expected to be hybrid in our San Jose office.
Requirements
- 15+ years of experience shipping complex, enterprise-grade software.
- Expert in modern backend stacks—specifically Go, Node.js, MongoDB, and AWS.
- Expertise in APIs, platform-first design, scalable workflow orchestration, and secure, compliant SaaS architectures.
- Strong product intuition.
- Comfortable in "grey areas," able to take a napkin-sketch idea and turn it into a production-ready reality through influence and technical clarity.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver the core platform capabilities that power FloQast Transform and the next generation of AI-driven workflows.
- Own the "big picture," ensuring our distributed systems, AI Agent infrastructure, and visual workflow builders are scalable, resilient, and elegant.
- Lead the high-level design discussions that resolve complex trade-offs.
- Establish rigorous engineering best practices, raising the floor and the ceiling for our technical standards across our automation ecosystem.
- Act as the bridge between "what’s possible" and "what’s needed," partnering deeply with Product and Design to translate ambiguous business goals into executable technical roadmaps for intuitive, agentic accounting automation.
