About The Position

Northrop Grumman Space Systems Sector is looking for a Principal Software Engineer/Senior Principal Software Engineer to join their team in Morrisville, NC. This role involves engineering enduring icons of modern space exploration and global security, including work on NASA's Artemis missions, the James Webb Space Telescope, on-orbit logistics, next-generation national defense constellations, and strategic missile systems. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other STEM related degree.
  • For Principal Engineer Software: 5+ years of software development experience; 3 years with a Master's; 1 year with PhD.
  • For Senior Principal Engineer Software: 8+ years of software development experience; 6 years with a Master's; 4 years with a PhD.
  • Demonstrated experience with Agile software development.
  • Demonstrated experience with Java, Python and/or C++ software development in a Red Hat Enterprise Linux environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) tools.
  • Demonstrated experience with Dockerization and Container Management (Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm).
  • Demonstrated experience with Systems Development in a Cloud environment (e.g., AWS environment and tools).
  • Strong mathematics background.
  • Knowledge of object oriented design and software lifecycles.
  • Experience with version control software.
  • Must be eligible for a Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
  • Must be able to obtain a Counterintelligence Polygraph (CI-Poly).
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for positions with a government clearance.

  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Mission Management Algorithms experience.
  • Experience working with the Proliferated Mission Management (PMM) framework.

Responsibilities

  • Work on an agile development team using modern development practices.
  • Perform mostly new development using Docker containers, Kubernetes, Helm charts, and AWS services.
  • Perform maintenance and sustainment engineering for existing baselines.
  • Potentially program in C++/C for maintenance and sustainment.
  • Support a number of tools and systems in a dynamic environment.
