Principal Software Engineer (BM/SRM) (26-464) Space AHT

Northrop Grumman•Huntsville, AL
•$108,800 - $163,200•Onsite

About The Position

Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Missile Defense Integration is hiring a Principal Software Engineer for the Battle Management/Sensor Resource Management (BM/SRM) Product Team within C2BMC Regional Applications. Based in Huntsville, Alabama, this on-site role supports the Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program, a key component of the Missile Defense System. The role contributes to the development, optimization, and maintenance of Java-based applications used to plan ballistic missile defense operations, monitor battles, and control networked sensors and weapon systems. The position has no remote-work option and does not provide relocation assistance. Travel is approximately 10% of the time, including infrequent trips between Huntsville and Colorado development facilities as business needs require. The engineer will implement software enhancements, improve existing algorithms and architectures, and identify ways to optimize application performance, data-processing efficiency, and system functionality. The role coordinates with the BM/SRM Algorithms, Analysis, and Design team and the BM/SRM Software Architect to translate algorithmic and architectural designs into efficient implementations aligned with system requirements. Work includes software development and maintenance, code reviews, unit testing, investigation and resolution of integration and testing issues, collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering teams, and participation in Agile planning and execution using established C2BMC processes. Applicants must hold an active, in-scope Secret clearance at the time of application. The advertised primary-level salary range is $108,800–$163,200. Depending on the position, employees may also be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus. Northrop Grumman provides a benefits package and a supportive work environment, with flexible and customizable benefits options.
