About The Position

The Principal Software Engineer will lead full-stack development for the Severe Parameter Impacts Request Engine (SPIRE), supporting its development, modernization, and sustainment. SPIRE delivers weather-based asset impact intelligence to operational users and machine-to-machine systems across multiple classified enclaves. The role includes architectural updates, technical leadership, and contributions to expanding SPIRE’s AI-enabled capabilities. The engineer will lead design, development, testing, and deployment of user interface components and backend Python services; modernize the technology stack to meet evolving cyber and software standards; troubleshoot and optimize production software; and support deployments in SIPR and JWICS classified enclaves. The position also involves implementing raster-based weather impact visualizations for mission planning, collaborating with Air Force Weather teams on integrations and interface standards, researching emerging technologies, mentoring junior developers, and participating in Agile Scrum processes.
