About The Position

Northrop Grumman is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join our dynamic team. This position will support our Aeronautics Systems sector in Oklahoma City, OK. The selected candidate will join our team of software engineers to support the development of Strategic Operating Units, executing both sustainment and modernization programs. They will contribute to software engineering initiatives for several programs with software design & development, software test and integration, and DevOps expertise. The role involves using a variety of software languages, technologies, and industry best practices, and supporting all phases of the development life cycle for flight, mission, lab and tools software. This is a SkillBridge Program opportunity, allowing service members preparing for civilian careers to gain valuable civilian work experience during their last 6 months of service, for up to 180 days. Participants will work on-site, gaining experience in an entry to mid-level career path, with a work schedule equivalent to 40 hours per week. The program aims to provide separating service members with job skills training in a professional setting, offering hands-on experience that may lead to full-time employment. Participants will serve as a pipeline for motivated military candidates into Northrop Grumman.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 2 years of experience in software engineering OR a Master’s degree in a (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 0 years of experience in software engineering OR a PhD degree in a (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 0 years of experience (for Software Engineer)
  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience; OR Master’s degree in a STEM discipline with 3 years of related experience; OR PhD with 1 year of related experience (for Principal Software Engineer)
  • Familiar with Safety-Critical Embedded Real Time Software
  • Familiar with all phases of the software development life cycle and Agile framework as a Product Owner, SCRUM Master, and/or team member
  • Experience with developing software and scripts on various programming languages: C, C++, Python, PowerShell, VBScript, Bash, AND/OR KornShell for Safety-Critical applications/Systems
  • Familiar with Architecting, Designing, Implementing, Integrating, Verifying and Qualifying Safety-Critical Embedded Real Time Software running on various RTOS (VxWorks, Integrity, Real Time Embedded Linux)
  • Familiar with Static & Dynamic Code Analysis Tools and Fuzzing Tools such as: Coverity, Fortify, AND/OR SonarQube
  • Familiar with Software Change Control, Change Management, and CI/CD tools
  • Active U.S. government Secret level or higher clearance (in-scope), with the ability to obtain (and maintain) special program access (PAR)
  • Has served at least 180 days on active duty
  • Is within 12 months of separation or retirement
  • Will receive an honorable discharge
  • Has taken any service TAPS/TGPS
  • Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months
  • Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in SkillBridge Program prior to start of internship

  • Experience with Agile Software Development, object-oriented architectures, designs, programming, debugging, and hardware-software integration and testing

  • Experience with DOORs AND Software Requirement Specification Testing using Simulators, automated scripting languages such as Python, MATLAB, JavaScript, AND/OR Bash
  • Experience with Static & Dynamic Code Analysis Tools and Fuzzing Tools such as: Coverity, Fortify, AND/OR SonarQube
  • Experience with software network interfaces -and troubleshooting networks (TCP/IP, UDP, LAN, VLAN, SNMP or others)

  • Serve as a pipeline for high-speed, motivated military candidates into NGC
  • Be highly trained, capable, future employees that align to the specific needs of the organization and are prepared to meet the NG mission “Defining Possible” on Day 1
  • Gain comprehensive hands-on experience including professional development, networking with leadership, and training specifically focused on NG leadership principles, company history, customer/stakeholder engagement, product and service overview, and core job responsibilities
