About The Position

The Principal Software Engineer designs and develops software applications from functional requirements using Twelve-Factor App methodology. The role develops innovative user interfaces and web components in collaboration with other experts, evaluates emerging technologies, and recommends solutions that improve the customer’s software developer experience and delivery efficiency. The engineer works hands-on as a technical lead, contributes to functional strategy, provides guidance to junior- and mid-level developers, and participates in customer technical, design, and development meetings to enhance architecture and code quality. Responsibilities span UI and web application development, including single-page applications and responsive, accessible pages; Java and Spring Boot microservices and RESTful APIs; enterprise batch applications; SOAP services and their security; and data-access layers for DB2 and PostgreSQL. The role also creates API test-framework proofs of concept and templates, writes unit and integration tests, documents architecture and designs, and supports CI/CD, cloud-native deployment, application performance, and security. The position is onsite in Woodlawn, Maryland, five days per week. The contract is W2 for 12 months, and the selected candidate must be local and able to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
