About The Position

Expedia Group is seeking a Principal Software Development Engineer to join their Expedia Global Payments (EGP) team. This role involves driving the development of a payment platform, rolling out new payment methods, and improving operational excellence and engineering practices. The team manages a dynamic set of services enabling global customers to pay for travel in various ways, processing over $100 billion in payments annually across 55+ currencies and 155+ countries. The position offers significant technical challenges and the opportunity for substantial business impact. Technology and innovation are central, with a focus on reducing payment costs and enhancing performance, scalability, availability, and resiliency. The role requires implementing innovative software solutions for e-commerce payments at scale, acting as a role model and mentor, expanding skills in building scalable solutions, influencing others, and raising the team's overall excellence. The engineer will also influence decisions across Expedia Group's technology ecosystem and contribute to hiring new senior-level team members.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field; or Equivalent related professional experience.
10+ years of relevant professional experience.
Proven track record of leading complex technical initiatives across multiple systems, domains, or organizational boundaries.
Demonstrated expertise in system design, large-scale architecture, API design, and data modeling.
Familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products.

Deep knowledge of designing, integrating, and optimizing AI/ML‑enabled features into production software environments.
