About The Position
This role involves acting as a technical advisor and defining the technical vision for silicon architecture to provide hardware acceleration to AWS networking protocols used in the AWS cloud. The position requires designing, implementing, and delivering register transfer level (RTL) software and architectural documents for complex problems related to Nitro silicon use cases, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) flows for both P-type and Trainium instances. The role will influence the team's technical and business direction by making insightful contributions to team priorities and approaches to enhance AWS cloud networking performance. Responsibilities include designing and developing complex software and hardware interactive solutions, advising senior leadership on technical opportunities and pitfalls to ensure rapid delivery to AWS customers, and engaging with internal and external teams to resolve ambiguities, prioritize efforts, and eliminate blockers on joint projects. The role also involves influencing the development and adoption of systems and processes to maintain and improve operational efficiency and mentoring junior engineers.
Requirements
- Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field and one year of experience in the job offered, or as a Software Engineer, Software Developer, or a related occupation.
- Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field and five years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
- One year of experience in technical expertise in AWS networking protocols ENA express and Elastic Fabric Adapter (EFA).
- One year of experience with system on a chip (SoC) logic design.
- One year of hands-on experience with complex networking logic design.
- One year of experience with timing closure tools and techniques including PrimeTime.
Responsibilities

- Design, implement, and deliver register transfer level (RTL) software and architectural documents for ambiguous and complex problems pertaining to Nitro silicon use cases such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) flows for both P-type instances and Trainium instances.
- Influence the team's technical and business direction by making insightful contributions to team priorities and approach to improve the AWS cloud networking performance.
- Design and develop complex software and hardware interactive solutions, and advise senior leadership on technical opportunities and pitfalls to ensure long-term rapid delivery to AWS customers.
- Engage with internal and external teams to help resolve ambiguities, address efforts prioritization, and eliminate blockers while working on the projects requiring joint efforts as well as adoption of new technologies.
- Influence the development and adoption of various systems and processes to maintain and improve operational efficiency of both existing and upcoming systems.
- Mentor junior engineers.
