About The Position

Ramboll is seeking a Principal Engineer / Environmental Scientist / Geologist with an LSRP license to join their growing office in Princeton, New Jersey. This is a growth role for a seller-doer leader responsible for setting the go-to-market approach, opening doors with new and existing clients, and delivering high-impact work. The role requires an established Principal with significant consulting experience and a proven track record of winning and expanding client work, including specific experience with New Jersey environmental regulations and the NJDEP. As a Principal, you will serve as a trusted advisor and market-facing growth leader, owning priority accounts, developing new client relationships, and building a pipeline for the region. You will combine technical credibility with commercial leadership to help clients manage environmental risk, meet regulatory obligations, and advance sustainability goals across various sectors.

Requirements

  • 15+ years in environmental consulting with progressive leadership responsibility.
  • Business development success—evidence of consistently winning work (e.g., annual sales targets achieved, repeatable proposal wins, measurable account growth).
  • A strong professional network in New Jersey and an existing book of business.
  • Strong program/project leadership (scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk) and the ability to lead multi-disciplinary team.
  • In-depth knowledge of NJDEP environmental regulations and Technical Guidance and application to real-world situations.
  • Relevant degree in environmental science, engineering, geology, chemistry, or a related field; professional certifications/licensure (e.g., LSRP, PE, PG).
  • Demonstrated experience as a New Jersey LSRP, including providing technical and regulatory guidance to clients in the role of a retained LSRP.
  • Experience preparing and submitting Industrial Site Recovery Act (ISRA) and Spill Act associated documents, forms, reports, and applications.
  • Experience leading technical consultations with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP).
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. No sponsorship is available for this position.

  • Build the team: mentor and develop staff, support recruiting, and create repeatable delivery and sales playbooks.
  • Represent the firm: engage with clients, regulators, and industry groups; speak/publish as appropriate to raise visibility.
