Principal Simulation Analysis Engineer

RTX•Tucson, AZ
•$118,300 - $224,900•Onsite

About The Position

The Principal Simulation Analysis Engineer will join Raytheon’s Integrated Solutions, Modeling, and Architecture center, in the Operations and Mission Analysis Department and Airborne Kill Chain AI/ML Section. The team analyzes threats and develops capabilities using operational modeling and simulation, including high-fidelity missile simulations, to build decision-support systems for warfighters. This is an onsite role in Tucson, Arizona. The engineer will support or lead the design, development, and use of high-fidelity digital simulation software in advanced technical computing environments. The role also involves assessing weapon-system performance against threats across kill-chain scenarios, applying performance-engineering practices to computational problems, and collaborating with stakeholders to develop analytic approaches that inform program decisions. The engineer will support or lead model-based solutions, including their development, implementation, validation, and testing, for real-time combat decision aids and associated software. An active and transferable U.S. government security clearance is required before the start date, and the posting specifies an active, existing clearance on day one. U.S. citizenship is required. The salary range is $118,300–$224,900. Eligible applicants may receive benefits and incentive compensation, subject to position and business-unit conditions.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a STEM degree and at least 8 years of relevant prior experience, unless prohibited by local laws or regulations.
  • Experience with MATLAB or Python.
  • Experience in at least two of the following areas: systems engineering life cycle; software development and/or object-oriented design using C/C++ and/or Java; artificial intelligence, machine learning, and/or surrogate modeling; computation on high-performance computing systems.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance before the start date; U.S. citizenship is required.
  • An active and existing security clearance is required on day one, as specified in the posting.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree major in Physics, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, Operations Research, Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or Computer/Electrical Engineering.
  • Coursework, internship, projects, or work experience in simulation modeling, development, and/or analysis of physical systems.
  • Knowledge of the systems engineering life-cycle model.
  • Software development processes and object-oriented design using C/C++ and/or Java in Unix or Linux computing environments.
  • Artificial intelligence/machine learning or surrogate modeling experience.
  • High-performance computing grids or clusters, including SLURM.
  • Four years of relevant professional experience leading a project team.
  • Prior military experience or substantive domain knowledge of warfare tools and tactics.
  • Prior experience with classified material.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government-issued SECRET or TOP SECRET security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Support or lead the design, development, and/or utilization of high-fidelity digital simulation software in advanced technical computing environments.
  • Support or lead trade studies assessing weapon-system performance against a variety of threats and kill-chain scenarios.
  • Apply performance-engineering practices to evaluate computational problems and answer operational-performance questions, including system improvements, missile effectiveness, and countermeasures to increase effectiveness or survivability.
  • Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to develop and implement analytic approaches that produce data to guide program decisions.
  • Support or lead development, implementation, validation, and testing of model-based solutions for real-time combat decision aids and associated software.
