About The Position

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is hiring a Principal or Senior Principal Mechanical Analysis Engineer for its Engineering and Sciences organization in Woodland Hills, California. The role supports senior mechanical engineers in designing military avionics, including inertial navigation and measurement systems and mission computers for the Sentinel program. The position is 100% on-site and is not eligible for remote work; relocation assistance may be available. The engineer will contribute to the organization’s enterprise-wide digital transformation using model-based engineering and agile practices, within a collaborative, team-oriented environment focused on continuous learning and automation. The engineer serves as a technical individual contributor on the Analysis Engineering Team. Work includes assessing structural viability for certification; conducting structural analyses of metallic structures, mechanical and electromechanical systems, and equipment; building and manipulating finite element models; reviewing drawings and material and structural requirements; calculating margins; documenting analysis methods; and supporting structural test planning, design reviews, material review boards, and nonconformance dispositions. Analyses may be performed by hand and with program-approved automated methods. The position may be filled at either the Principal or Senior Principal level. The standard work schedule is 9/80, with nine-hour days Monday through Thursday and every other Friday off. Travel is 10% of the time. An active U.S. Government Secret clearance and U.S. citizenship are required.
