Principal Should Cost Engineer (Remote)

RTX•New York, NY
•$107,500 - $204,500•Remote

About The Position

The Principal Should Cost Engineer will help design, build, and operationalize a should-cost capability that provides cost transparency to RTX sourcing teams for supplier negotiations across RTX products and commodities. The role leads cost modeling and benchmarking for complex assemblies and parts, using aPriori, internally developed regression models, and other models as they are developed. It translates engineering drawings and models into costed elements, including material, labor, overhead, tooling, and logistics, and develops cost rollups, cost drivers, assumptions, and logic to support negotiations. The engineer also uses historical data to create forward-looking models where should-cost software is unavailable, validates and calibrates models, trains users, and contributes to improvements in standard work. Occasional travel with Supply Chain managers may be required, but is expected to be minimal.

Requirements

  • Typically, a STEM degree and at least 8 years of relevant experience; or an advanced degree in a related field and at least 5 years of experience; or, in the absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience.

  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Experience with SAP or another ERP system.
