About The Position

The Windows Attack Research & Protection (WARP) team is looking for a learn-it-all engineering leader that will help secure Microsoft products and devices. The WARP team is responsible for securing the Windows client and server operating systems, used by more than a billion customers every day in businesses and across Azure. This team performs security design reviews, code reviews, and penetration testing on key features of Windows to make sure they meet the highest possible security standards. In this Principal Security Engineer Manager role, you will manage a team of security engineers tasked with building cutting-edge automation for vulnerability discovery and remediation. The candidate will have hands-on experience with native code (C/C++), building agentic systems and tools, a clear understanding of OS security fundamentals, solid computer science skills, and a passion for keeping Microsoft customers safe. Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field AND 4+ years experience in security or related field OR Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field AND 6+ years experience in security or related field OR equivalent experience
  • 1+ year(s) people management.

Nice To Haves

  • 7+ years of experience in a software engineering or security-related field.
  • 1+ years managing security-focused engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of engineers in building highly-reliable, accurate systems that find, explain, and quantify the impact of security vulnerabilities in native code.
  • Build world-class tools to enable security researchers to work more effectively and find new categories of vulnerabilities.
  • Devise new methods to systematically detect vulnerabilities at scale.
  • Build tools to enable developers to perform automated, scalable security testing.
  • Collaborate with product teams to improve security, and articulate the business value of security investments.
  • Create clarity, energy, and cohesion across the team.
