C4 Therapeutics is seeking a highly motivated and innovative Principal Scientist in Immunology to lead discovery and translational research for autoimmune and inflammatory diseases within our targeted protein degradation (TPD) platform. In this role, you will drive mechanism-based therapeutic strategies, advancing degrader programs from target identification through IND-enabling studies, with a strong emphasis on human biology, immune modulation, and translational relevance. You will operate at the intersection of immunology, chemical biology, and drug discovery, contributing to a high-impact pipeline addressing significant unmet needs in inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. You will use your strong critical-thinking skills to independently design, execute, troubleshoot, and analyze experiments in our exciting fast-paced environment. Your deep expertise and scientific curiosity will be key as you are asked to contribute meaningfully to your projects, propose and explore new ideas, and adapt and pivot to follow the latest cutting-edge innovations in the immunology field.

Requirements

  • A Ph.D. in Immunology, Cell Biology, or related discipline with a minimum of ten years of industry experience in biotechnology or pharmaceutical drug discovery
  • Demonstrated success leading autoimmune or inflammatory disease programs
  • Deep expertise in immune cell biology (e.g., T cells, myeloid cells, immune regulation), inflammatory/autoimmune disorders, and cellular and molecular assay design
  • Strong record of scientific achievement (publications, patents, or pipeline contributions)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in CRO management
  • Experience with targeted protein degradation
  • Experience developing human-relevant translational models (ex vivo systems, patient-derived samples, or complex immune assays)

Responsibilities

  • Lead one or more autoimmune-focused discovery programs, from target identification through candidate selection, including experimental strategy and milestones to generate robust translational data packages and support progression toward development
  • Integrate biology, pharmacology, and chemistry data to enable data-driven decisions and portfolio prioritization
  • Identify and validate novel targets and pathways driving autoimmune disease biology, maintaining deep awareness of emerging trends in immunology and autoimmune disease biology
  • Design and execute in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo studies to support validation and differentiation of degraders as well as their mechanism of action
  • Collaborate closely with team members within and across functional areas to achieve key company goals
  • Analyze, summarize, and present data at team meetings and broader project team meetings
  • Build and manage academic and industry collaborations
  • Mentor/develop junior scientists and provide technical leadership and foster a culture of scientific rigor and innovation
