About The Position

The Principal Salesforce Administrator is a senior, enterprise‑level role responsible for the stability, scalability, and strategic evolution of the Salesforce platform. This role goes beyond day‑to‑day administration and serves as a platform leader, governance partner, and technical mentor, ensuring Salesforce solutions align with enterprise standards, business priorities, and long‑term platform strategy. The ideal candidate brings deep Salesforce expertise, strong systems thinking, and the ability to influence across delivery teams, architects, product partners, and leadership. They are accountable for production stability, release readiness, security posture, and operational excellence across multiple Salesforce orgs and business domains.

Requirements

  • Extensive hands on experience as a Salesforce Administrator in large, complex, multi team environments.
  • Deep expertise in Salesforce security, roles, profiles, permission sets, flows, data management, and environment strategy.
  • Proven ability to lead through influence without direct authority.
  • Strong understanding of Salesforce governance, release management, and platform best practices.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting production systems with high availability and business criticality.
  • Bachelor's degree or advanced degree
  • 7+ years of experience in related field.
  • In lieu of degree, 9+ years of experience in related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Salesforce Administrator and/or Advanced Administrator certifications (additional Salesforce certifications strongly preferred).
  • Experience operating within a Salesforce Center of Excellence or enterprise governance model.
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools (e.g., Copado or similar), release automation, and backup/recovery strategies.
  • Experience partnering with vendors and evaluating third‑party Salesforce solutions.
  • Background in mentoring or leading communities of practice.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary platform owner for Salesforce, accountable for production stability, reliability, and performance.
  • Lead advanced Salesforce administration activities including configuration, security model design, automation, data management, and environment strategy.
  • Proactively identify and remediate risks related to technical debt, scalability, performance, and security.
  • Partner with support, monitoring, and incident teams to meet SLAs and drive root‑cause resolution for production issues.
  • Actively participate in and support Salesforce Design Authority / governance forums, ensuring solutions align to enterprise architecture and platform standards.
  • Review and influence solution designs, enforcing best practices around configuration vs. customization, data integrity, and long‑term maintainability.
  • Define and evolve administrative standards, guardrails, and operating procedures across the Salesforce ecosystem.
  • Play a key role in release management, environment readiness, and deployment coordination in partnership with Release Managers and DevOps teams.
  • Ensure admin‑owned changes are well‑designed, tested, documented, and production‑ready.
  • Support and mature DevOps, CI/CD, and backup/recovery processes as they relate to admin‑managed components.
  • Serve as a technical leader and mentor for Salesforce Administrators and developers, raising overall platform maturity.
  • Lead knowledge‑sharing sessions, working groups, and admin community forums.
  • Provide hands‑on coaching to build admin capability across delivery teams and reduce single‑points‑of‑failure.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Solution Architects, Developers, Data teams, and Business stakeholders to translate business needs into scalable platform solutions.
  • Support platform initiatives such as license optimization, app rationalization, new Salesforce feature adoption, and roadmap planning.
  • Evaluate new Salesforce capabilities and AppExchange solutions, providing recommendations grounded in enterprise impact and ROI.
