About The Position
At Microsoft Research, the Principal Researcher or Senior Principal Researcher will shape the future of systems and AI by creating and using cutting-edge technology for software verification. The role advances research in systems software verification and applies that research to change how software is built and maintained, especially in the age of powerful coding agents. The researcher will develop ways to use AI and agent technologies to enable rapid development of large volumes of verified systems code, while deepening expertise in formal methods, large-scale systems, and AI and agent integration. The role primarily involves on-site collaboration in Redmond, with opportunities for cross-disciplinary growth and learning.
Requirements
- Doctorate in a relevant field and 3+ years of related research experience, or a master's degree in a relevant field and 4+ years of related research experience, or a bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 6+ years of related research experience, or equivalent experience.
- Experience publishing academic papers as a lead author or essential contributor.
- Experience participating in a top conference in a relevant research domain.
- Active participation in engineering efforts in the relevant areas, including involvement in building and maintaining systems.
- Demonstrable ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
