Principal Radar Systems Analyst

Leonardo DRS, Inc.•Germantown, MD

About The Position

DRS RADA Technologies is seeking a full-time, on-site Principal Radar Systems Analyst to provide technical leadership for radar performance analysis and systems engineering across counter-unmanned aircraft systems, counter-rocket, artillery, and mortar, and short-range air defense programs. The role translates operational needs into models, simulations, requirements, and technical solutions. It is a hands-on, senior-level systems-engineering position involving collaboration with systems, software, hardware, integration, test, and operational teams, rather than production, manufacturing, or work limited to operating a single radar system. The analyst leads technical workstreams, develops and maintains radar performance-analysis tools and systems-engineering artifacts, supports integration and verification activities, and mentors engineers. The position is based on-site in Germantown, Maryland, and offers a 9/80 schedule. U.S. citizenship is required, as is an active DoD security clearance or the ability to obtain one within a reasonable time after employment begins.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field.
  • At least eight years of relevant experience.
  • Advanced technical and domain knowledge in systems engineering and radar performance analysis.
  • Ability to independently lead a technical group and apply sound engineering judgment in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Broad systems-engineering experience, including requirements management; functional requirements parsing, derivation, and allocation; systems design; system integration; technical risk management; and verification and validation principles.
  • Experience developing and using systems-engineering artifacts, including specifications, Interface Control Documents, use cases, system architecture descriptions, and trade studies.
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense customers and processes.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance; the posting also specifies an active DoD clearance or ability to obtain one within a reasonable time after employment begins.
  • Advanced experience with analysis and automation tools such as Jenkins, Cameo, STK, MATLAB, and Python.
  • Strong organizational, written communication, presentation, and analytical skills.
  • U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain technical project plans to design, develop, document, test, and deliver radar performance-analysis tools that meet cost, schedule, and technical-performance targets.
  • Provide technical leadership and sound engineering approaches for complex radar and system-performance challenges.
  • Develop, deploy, and maintain models, simulations, and analysis tools that inform system integration, test planning, and performance characterization.
  • Translate customer needs and limited source documentation into clear system requirements, and work with development teams to map requirements into an Agile execution framework.
  • Create and maintain systems-engineering artifacts, including specifications, Interface Control Documents, use cases, system architecture descriptions, trade studies, and verification and validation plans.
  • Identify technical risks, recommend mitigation strategies, and support systems design, requirements allocation, integration, and verification and validation activities.
  • Mentor and coach engineers and provide technical expertise to engineering and operational stakeholders.
