About The Position

The Principal Process Engineer is an experienced individual contributor who will lead the development of manufacturing processes and battery designs for New Product Development at the Medtronic Energy and Component Center (MECC) for the Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) business. MECC supports the design, development, and production of components used in implantable devices. We are working onsite a minimum of 4 days per week as part of our commitment to fostering a culture of professional growth and cross-functional collaboration as we work together to engineer the extraordinary. This role will require less than 10% of travel to enhance collaboration and ensure successful completion of projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or scientific field
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience, OR advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.
  • U.S. work authorization sponsorship (H-1B, TN, J, etc.) is offered exclusively for Principal-level roles and above, where specialized expertise aligns with long-term business needs. Roles below the Principal level require candidates to possess unrestricted U.S. work authorization at the time of hire and for the duration of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in battery design and/or manufacturing
  • Experience in medical device or other highly regulated industry
  • Experience in new product development including design for reliability and manufacturing (DRM)
  • Experience with predictive modeling and experimental design software including: JMP, Minitab, and MATLAB
  • DRM or Six Sigma certification

Responsibilities

  • Work with cross functional teams including Design, Operations, Quality, and Reliability to develop processes for batteries and battery components in a regulated industry
  • Plan and execute process validation: characterization, OQ/PQ, TMVs and process release activities
  • Design, develop, analyze, troubleshoot and provide technical skills during product development; Includes meeting quality standards with capable processes to optimize production efficiencies and yields
  • Develop manufacturing equipment by creating requirements and interfacing with equipment supplier during equipment build; Plan and execute FAT/SAT and IQ
  • Run experiments with statistical analysis to support fast learning cycles
  • Lead the innovation, development and optimization of new manufacturing concepts, processes and procedures for transfer to manufacturing operations
  • Knowledge of scope, schedule and budget to plan and execute work accordingly
