About The Position

Omega Technical Services is seeking a highly motivated Principal Quality Control Engineer - Electrical/I&C to support ongoing operations in Aiken, SC. This role involves supervising and directing quality control engineers in performing inspections and surveillance for project work and maintenance activities. The position also provides quality control support to construction management, implements quality requirements, and accurately statuses results. The engineer will establish priorities to support construction/operations needs, resolve complex problems by coordinating with internal and external departments, and provide leadership to ensure efficient performance, safe work habits, timely information exchange, and commitment to site policies. Participation in contract discussions related to quality activities, preparation of comprehensive status reports, and review/approval of subcontractor quality procedures are also key aspects of this role. The engineer will coordinate with other construction departments to ensure compliance with site specifications and standards, prepare quality procedures for inspection, testing, and surveillance, and provide effective quality training programs. Performance evaluations of assigned personnel will be conducted. Additionally, the role includes developing, revising, and performing peer reviews of Quality Control Inspection Plans for electrical and I&C, performing field inspections, documenting results, issuing Non-Conformance reports, and reviewing product and process compliance with drawings, specifications, and other requirements.

Requirements

  • Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a drug and breath alcohol test, along with a Motor Vehicle Record check.
  • Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Security Clearance.
  • Well developed organizational and supervisory skills and good communication talents are required.
  • Certification in areas of responsibility are required with ongoing programmatic training per the requirements of the project quality program.
  • Prior work experience working under an ASME NQA-1 quality program.
  • Prior DOE work experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Possession of an active DOE/DoD clearance within the past two (2) years is preferred.
  • Previous DOE/NNSA work experience.
  • Practical field experience in electrical and instrumentation and controls (I&C) quality control within the last 16 months.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct quality control engineers assigned to perform inspections and surveillance in support of project work and/or maintenance activities.
  • Provide quality control support to construction management and direct personnel to implement quality requirements and to accurately status the results.
  • Establish priorities which support construction/operations needs.
  • Resolve complex problems which develop during the implementation of quality activities by coordinating with internal and external departments.
  • Provide leadership which inspires efficient performance of assignments, safe work habits, timely exchange of information and each individuals' commitment to site policies.
  • Participate in contract discussions relating to quality activities.
  • Prepare comprehensive status reports for construction quality activities.
  • Review and approve subcontractors quality procedures and monitor their adherence to those procedures.
  • Coordinate the activities of assigned quality control engineers and with other construction departments to ensure that construction is in compliance with site specifications and standards.
  • Prepare quality procedures to ensure proper inspection, testing and surveillance activities are being performed.
  • Provide effective quality training programs and ensure assigned personnel are qualified to perform assigned tasks.
  • Prepare performance evaluations of assigned personnel.
  • Develop, revise, and perform peer reviews of Quality Control Inspection Plans related to electrical and I&C, in accordance with Design Output documents, Codes, and Standards.
  • Perform field related inspections in accordance with Quality Control Inspection Plans.
  • Document inspection results on applicable inspection records and issue Non- Conformance reports as required.
  • Review product and process compliance with all specified drawings, specifications, and other requirements through inspection and/or review of supplied materials and equipment.
