About The Position

Seeking a Principal Quality Control Engineer - Electrical / I&C Inspector to support our client in Aiken, SC. The role involves supervising and directing quality control engineers in performing inspections and surveillance for project work and/or maintenance activities. The position requires providing quality control support to construction management, implementing quality requirements, and accurately reporting results. Key responsibilities include establishing priorities, resolving complex problems, providing leadership, participating in contract discussions related to quality, preparing status reports, reviewing subcontractor quality procedures, and coordinating with other departments to ensure compliance with site specifications and standards. The role also involves preparing quality procedures for inspection, testing, and surveillance, and providing effective quality training programs.

Requirements

Well developed organizational and supervisory skills and good communication talents
Certification in areas of responsibility are required with ongoing programmatic training per the requirements of the project quality program
Prior work experience working under an ASME NQA-1 quality program
Prior DOE work experience
Well-developed organizational skills with good communication skills

Must be able to maintain and obtain a DOE “Q” clearance
U.S. citizenship is required to perform this government contract.

Nice To Haves

Practical field experience in electrical and instrumentation and controls (I&C) quality control within the last 16 months
Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years

Responsibilities

Supervise and direct quality control engineers assigned to perform inspections and surveillance in support of project work and/or maintenance activities.
Provide quality control support to construction management and direct personnel to implement quality requirements and to accurately status the results.
Establish priorities which support construction/operations needs.
Resolve complex problems which develop during the implementation of quality activities by coordinating with internal and external departments.
Provide leadership which inspires efficient performance of assignments, safe work habits, timely exchange of information and each individuals' commitment to site policies.
Participate in contract discussions relating to quality activities.
Prepare comprehensive status reports for construction quality activities.
Review and approve subcontractors quality procedures and monitor their adherence to those procedures.
Coordinate the activities of assigned quality control engineers and with other construction departments to ensure that construction is in compliance with site specifications and standards.
Prepare quality procedures to ensure proper inspection, testing and surveillance activities are being performed.
Provide effective quality training programs and ensure assigned personnel are qualified to perform assigned tasks.
Prepare performance evaluations of assigned personnel.
Develop, revise, and perform peer reviews of Quality Control Inspection Plans related to electrical and I&C, in accordance with Design Output documents, Codes, and Standards.
Perform field related inspections in accordance with Quality Control Inspection Plans.
Document inspection results on applicable inspection records and issue Non-Conformance reports as required.
Review product and process compliance with all specified drawings, specifications, and other requirements through inspection and/or review of supplied materials and equipment.
