About The Position

SyberJet Aircraft is seeking a Principal Propulsion & Fuel Systems Engineer to lead and coordinate integration of propulsion and fuel systems on its aircraft programs. The role combines technical engineering leadership, project oversight, and regulatory compliance, with responsibility for the development, integration, and certification life cycle of propulsion systems. The engineer will serve as project engineer for powerplant and fuel systems development, interface with vendors, and guide independent electrical and mechanical design teams to ensure a safe, certifiable design optimized for performance and manufacturability. The role leads integration of turbofan engines, fuel systems, and bleed-air applications; establishes system-level requirements, interfaces, and design constraints; and coordinates supplier selection and certification readiness. It also leads propulsion and fuel systems certification activities, coordinates with FAA ACOs and DERs, and prepares and maintains compliance documentation and System Safety Assessments. The engineer supports ground and flight testing, investigates anomalies, reviews engineering models and drawings, and maintains project records in Confluence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Propulsion Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 8 years of experience in aircraft turbofan propulsion system design and integration.
  • At least 5 years supporting FAA certification under Part 23 or Part 25.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting or leading System Safety Assessments.
  • Solid understanding of FAA certification processes, including work with FAA DERs or as an ODA member.
  • Working knowledge of aircraft fuel system design, propulsion system controls, and engine bleed air systems, particularly for anti-icing and pneumatic integration.
  • Strong understanding of aerospace industry standards, design processes, certification methods, and aircraft turbofan engine operating characteristics.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, including the ability to analyze complex technical data and provide effective solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present and document technical information for varied stakeholders.
  • Ability to collaborate in a team environment and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Simulink, MATLAB, or engine performance simulation tools.
  • Proficiency with Siemens NX and Teamcenter.
  • Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools and methodologies.
  • Experience with Agile development using Jira Sprint Methodology.
  • Working knowledge of engine control integration, FADECs, electrical loads, and engine nacelle design.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and own integration of new turbofan engines and associated fuel systems into aircraft designs.
  • Establish, maintain, and control system-level requirements, interfaces, and design constraints for propulsion, fuel systems, and bleed air.
  • Guide supplier selection and coordination to ensure design alignment and certification readiness.
  • Ensure mechanical and electrical subsystems are harmonized with engine and fuel system integration needs.
  • Coordinate integration and application of engine bleed air for aircraft anti-ice and pneumatic systems.
  • Serve as technical lead for propulsion and fuel systems certification efforts.
  • Coordinate with FAA ACOs and DERs on compliance planning and issue resolution.
  • Develop, maintain, and own compliance documentation, including means-of-compliance matrices, certification plans, compliance checklists, and engineering reports.
  • Author, support, and review System Safety Assessments, including FHA, FTA, and SSA documents in accordance with ARP4761 guidance.
  • Validate certification artifacts against FAA Part 23 requirements.
  • Support propulsion and fuel system ground and flight test programs, including developing test plans and reports.
  • Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions for propulsion-related testing anomalies or discrepancies.
  • Evaluate performance data and verify compliance with safety and performance objectives.
  • Use Siemens NX or CATIA to direct, review, and evaluate 3D models, assemblies, and engineering drawings for design verification and compliance.
  • Maintain accurate and timely Confluence records of research, analyses, communications, decisions, rationale, issue resolution, and project activities.
  • Analyze and resolve design issues and offer solutions to engineering challenges.
  • Contribute to process improvements and best practices within the design and development team.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and development.
  • A collaborative, engineering-driven, innovative work environment.
  • The chance to work on cutting-edge aerospace projects with a talented team of professionals.
