About The Position

As a Principal Project Controls & Analysis (Principal Cost), you will play a critical role in supporting the successful delivery of one of the world's most significant mining projects. You will provide technical expertise across project cost management, forecasting, budgeting, change management, and project controls to help ensure project objectives are achieved safely, efficiently, and sustainably. Working closely with project stakeholders, contractors, vendors, planners, and commercial teams, you will influence key decisions through accurate reporting, insightful analysis, and data-driven recommendations. Requirements

  • Extensive experience in project controls and cost management within major capital projects, construction projects, or large-scale studies.
  • Strong expertise in cost forecasting, cost control, budgeting, estimating, and project performance monitoring.
  • Advanced proficiency with specialist cost management systems and expert-level Excel capability.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to transform complex data into compelling insights and actionable recommendations.
  • Experience supporting change management processes and implementing structured project controls methodologies.
  • Well-developed stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Understanding of project planning, scheduling, contractor performance management, and commercial interfaces.
  • A degree in Construction Management, Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Relevant professional certifications such as AACE International are considered an asset.
  • Experience in mining, infrastructure, energy, oil and gas, or other major project environments will be highly regarded.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support project cost management activities including budgeting, forecasting, accruals, cost tracking, and performance reporting.
  • Apply project controls expertise to monitor project performance and support on-time and on-budget delivery of project objectives.
  • Analyze project data and develop meaningful reports, insights, and recommendations that support informed decision-making.
  • Coordinate and maintain cost management routines, ensuring accuracy and consistency across project controls systems and processes.
  • Support change management processes by evaluating potential impacts, assessing changes, and providing recommendations aligned with project objectives.
  • Partner with project planners to align cost performance with schedule forecasting and progress measurement activities.
  • Support commercial evaluations for procurement and construction packages while ensuring effective cost oversight.
  • Build strong relationships with project teams, stakeholders, contractors, and vendors to maximize project value and delivery outcomes.
  • Contribute to a culture of trust, inclusion, collaboration, and performance across the Jansen project team.
