Raytheon is seeking an Principal Program Industrial Engineer to support the Effectors portfolio of factories in Huntsville, Alabama to maximize throughput, improve efficiency, and deliver increasing value to the customer. Industrial Engineers are responsible for Labor Performance Analyses, Process and Value Stream Mapping, Line Balancing, Capacity Planning, Manpower Planning, Factory Layouts, Factory Simulations, Strategic Planning, Project Management, Continuous Improvement, and more. Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of (8) years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations or (6) years of relevant experience with a master’s degree in a similar discipline
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Industrial Engineering.
  • Experience in the application of industrial engineering tools and methodologies, including but not limited to Lean Manufacturing, Capacity Modeling, Facility Design, and Process Optimization
  • Ability to obtain INTERIM U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date
  • And you must have the ability to obtain program specific clearances as needed
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) clearance

  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or high‑complexity manufacturing environments
  • Experience/Education with factory layout and work cell design/optimization
  • Experience/Education with simulation modeling and capacity analysis tools/methods

  • Demonstrated success leading lean transformations or production system improvements
  • Six Sigma certifications

Responsibilities

  • Model factory operations by generating process flows, value stream maps, pareto charts, spaghetti diagrams, and CAD drawings to graphically show production processes, the movement of material, the exchange of information, and key performance indicators
  • Calculate resource utilization and identify throughput constraints
  • Apply Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing principles to reduce undesirable effects, improve efficiency, and meet or exceed cost, quality, and on-time delivery goals
  • Influence and lead factory roadmaps and investment strategies by drafting infrastructure improvement and expansion proposals, and planning the integration of new products, technologies, and equipment that create a competitive advantage
  • Influence cross-functional teams to execute projects that address obsolescence, improve factory performance, and promote growth
  • Support new production contract/new product proposals and new product integration efforts
  • Improve factory safety and work cell ergonomics
