About The Position

The Microsoft 365 Core Copilot Infrastructure team is hiring a Principal Product Manager for its Capacity Management team. This team is responsible for ensuring the right AI infrastructure is in the right places at the right time to power Copilot across Microsoft 365. The role involves planning, delivering, and scaling the GPU and CPU fleet behind the M365 LLM platform, and directing significant capacity investment annually. This is a broad role for a platform thinker with a strong customer mindset, focusing on high-impact problems across demand forecasting, capacity investment planning, platform and hardware strategy, supply and demand balancing, capacity intake and delivery, and model onboarding and migration. The role is AI-first, utilizing agents, automation, and AI-driven analysis alongside standard PM tools for telemetry analysis, tradeoff modeling, solution prototyping, and decision-making. The Product Manager will translate technical and financial tradeoffs for leadership, drive AI-forward ways of working, and partner with engineering leaders, architects, data scientists, finance, and supply chain across Microsoft. The position offers broad visibility and influence, requiring strong product sense, technical depth, data fluency, customer empathy, and clear judgment under uncertainty. As a senior leader, the role also includes mentoring other product managers and improving team processes. This position is based in Redmond, Washington, requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in the office. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years of experience in product/service/program management or software development, OR equivalent experience.
  • Proven ability to think at the platform level while maintaining a strong customer mindset, translating customer and partner needs into durable platform capabilities.
  • Experience managing ambiguous, high-stakes work from strategy through execution across multiple organizations.
  • Experience leading large-scale cloud infrastructure, capacity planning, or distributed systems work, with an understanding of hyperscale service delivery.
  • AI fluency, including the use of AI agents, automation, and prototyping to accelerate analysis, decisions, and product work.
  • Experience using telemetry, demand signals, and operational data to inform platform and investment decisions.
  • Experience mentoring and developing product managers and technical leaders.
  • Systems-level problem-solving skills and clear communication abilities, with the capacity to influence senior leaders and align stakeholders across organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Shape the strategy for capacity and platform work critical to M365 Copilot and translate it into an executable roadmap.
  • Address high-impact problems across the charter, including capacity intake and planning, supply and demand balancing, buildout to SLA, GPU utilization and platform health, and model onboarding and migration, driving them to successful outcomes.
  • Apply a strong customer mindset by partnering with Copilot scenario teams to understand their needs and translate them into platform capabilities and capacity investments.
  • Utilize AI-driven analysis of demand signals, telemetry, and operational data for more accurate forecasting, early detection of capacity and reliability issues, and root cause resolution.
  • Employ agents, automation, and AI Ops for data analysis, work coordination, and action, transforming manual intake and allocation into intelligent, self-service systems.
  • Model capacity and hardware tradeoffs using AI prototyping and scenario testing before committing investment, supported by sound product, engineering, and financial judgment.
  • Balance cost, performance, and reliability, and prioritize multi-year capacity investments in collaboration with engineering, finance, and supply chain partners.
  • Advance platform, model, and hardware transition strategy, and enhance platform efficiency as AI workloads grow.
  • Define success metrics, OKRs, and KPIs, and shape investment priorities with leadership.
  • Communicate complex technical and financial tradeoffs to executives to facilitate decision-making.
  • Mentor other product managers, develop their capabilities, and guide the team towards improved, AI-forward working methods.
