Principal Product Manager

About The Position

We are looking for a strategic and AI forward Principal Product Manager to help shape the next generation of AI-powered information discovery experiences. In this role, you will lead product strategy for the technologies that help Copilot Chat and AI systems find, understand, and surface the most relevant information for users. You will work at the intersection of search, machine learning, data platforms, and user experience to improve how people discover and interact with information in complex environments. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about AI, search relevance, ranking systems, and data-driven product development. You will partner closely with engineering and applied science teams to define product direction, prioritize investments, and measure impact through customer outcomes and quality metrics. What is success? Users are able to find relevant information more effectively and efficiently. Product decisions are informed by clear metrics and measurable quality improvements. New capabilities can be evaluated and iterated on rapidly through experimentation and customer feedback. Search and AI experiences continue to improve in relevance, reliability, and trustworthiness. Requirements

Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development. OR equivalent experience.
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Nice To Haves

2 years' experience working on information retrieval, search relevance, or ranking systems.
5 years' experience building AI-powered products or platforms.
2 years' experience in working on fine-tuning projects.
Demonstrated experience in product management, software engineering or data science.
Solid analytical skills and ability to use data to drive decisions.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to thrive in ambiguous and fast-moving environments.
Familiarity with information retrieval, search relevance, ranking systems, or recommendation technologies.
Experience partnering closely with machine learning and applied science teams.
Knowledge of experimentation methodologies, evaluation frameworks, and product analytics.

Responsibilities

Define the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for AI-powered search and retrieval capabilities.
Partner with engineering and machine learning teams to improve how information is represented, discovered, and ranked.
Drive investments that improve search quality, relevance, accuracy, and user satisfaction.
Establish success metrics and evaluation frameworks to measure product effectiveness.
Lead experimentation efforts and use data-driven insights to inform product decisions.
Balance customer value, performance, scalability, and operational costs when making product tradeoffs.
Collaborate across product, engineering, design, and research teams to deliver end-to-end customer experiences.
Communicate product strategy, priorities, and outcomes to stakeholders across the organization.
