Principal Product Manager - Verification & Activation(Exchange)

Crypto.com
$150,000 - $250,000Hybrid

About The Position

This role owns the end-to-end user transition from verified identity to a funded, active trader on the Crypto.com Exchange. This critical moment impacts trading volume, retention, and revenue. The position encompasses five deeply connected areas: KYC Approval (identity verification platform, fraud detection), Re-KYC (re-verification experience for existing users), Deposit & Withdrawal (payment methods, limits, transparency for fiat and crypto), First Trade & Activation (removing barriers from first deposit to first trade/position), and Onboarding Rewards (incentive mechanics from KYC completion onward). This is an execution-first, high-ownership role requiring proactive stakeholder management to drive prioritization and shipping in a decentralized, 24/7 environment.

Requirements

  • 6-8+ years in Product Management.
  • Proven experience at a high-growth technology company (crypto exchange, fintech, neo-bank, or multi-asset broker preferred) owning and solving problems in identity verification, fiat payment rails, deposit conversion, or compliance-heavy product areas.
  • Specific experience with IDV platforms, payment rail integration, or KYC/AML product design is a strong plus.
  • Technical fluency, understanding payment gateway logic, ledger systems, and API integration.
  • Ability to discuss multi-vendor IDV routing logic, decision trees, liveness detection architecture, and composable IDV component design with Engineering.
  • Experience building or overseeing APIs, SDKs, and developer tooling as product deliverables.
  • Deep understanding of global KYC and AML standards (FATF, regional equivalents), SCA, GDPR, and local payment regulation.
  • Ability to translate regulatory constraints into product requirements and push back on poor UX disguised as compliance.
  • Data-driven approach, able to quantify conversion, risk, and cost trade-offs and make principled decisions.
  • SQL fluency; proficiency with Mixpanel, Amplitude, or equivalent for funnel analysis.
  • Demonstrable use of AI tools (Cursor, Claude Code, Gemini, LibreChat, or equivalent) with human-in-the-loop practices.
  • Proven ability to drive stakeholders to unblock, prioritize, and ship without waiting for direction in a decentralized, 24/7 environment.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional squads and influence Legal, Risk, and Compliance without formal authority.
  • Track record of taking a major onboarding or payments flow from a known friction point to shipped and measurably improved.

Nice To Haves

  • Crypto exchange, fintech, neo-bank, or multi-asset broker experience.
  • Specific experience with IDV platforms, payment rail integration, or KYC/AML product design.

Responsibilities

  • Own the identity verification platform strategy, roadmap, and execution, including multi-vendor optimization for pass rates, fraud minimization, and cost management.
  • Drive the platform towards self-serve configurability for product teams to manage IDV requirements and rules without engineering dependencies.
  • Deliver composable IDV components (document collection, liveness, facematch, motion) for use across different product contexts.
  • Lead initiatives to combat synthetic fraud using liveness challenges, e-ID integrations, and ML-powered fraud scoring.
  • Monitor and manage false positive rates to ensure fraud defense does not sacrifice real users.
  • Evaluate and roadmap Non-Doc verification and Reusable Identity solutions to reduce drop-off while maintaining compliance.
  • Benchmark KYC completion time against best-in-class multi-asset brokers (approx. 2 minutes) for roadmap prioritization.
  • Ensure product handles regional KYC variations without creating confusing user experiences.
  • Own the product experience for existing users requiring re-verification (Re-KYC) due to document expiry, regulatory triggers, or risk changes.
  • Design the Re-KYC journey to be low-disruption, clearly communicated, and completable with minimal drop-off, considering users mid-activity.
  • Build a communication cadence for Re-KYC, including advance notice, reminders, and grace period management.
  • Ensure the Re-KYC flow reuses existing IDV infrastructure while accounting for the context of active users.
  • Track Re-KYC completion rates, Re-KYC-triggered account restriction rates, and time from prompt to approval.
  • Own the deposit and withdrawal experience across all markets, managing payment method availability, eligibility, limits, and transparency for fiat and crypto.
  • Maintain and expand fiat rail coverage by owning the country-specific payment method matrix and defining eligibility rules.
  • Define deposit and withdrawal limits per method, tier, and market, and own the product experience for users hitting limits.
  • Manage the end-to-end onboarding of new payment methods, including vendor evaluation, integration, compliance, UX design, and launch.
  • Own FX spread and processing-fee UX transparency.
  • Own the on-chain deposit and withdrawal experience, including network selection UX, confirmation time expectations, address management, and SLA transparency.
  • Target a deposit success rate above 92% across fiat and card on-ramping.
  • Own the progression from first deposit to first trade and first derivative position, removing barriers in product discovery, market navigation, order entry, and fee transparency.
  • Own the onboarding reward ladder from KYC completion onward (incentives, bonuses, cashback) in coordination with Campaigns.
  • Own the product roadmap for adding new markets and local payment methods, coordinating with BD, Legal, and Engineering.
  • Understand and reflect local user preferences for payment methods in product design.
  • Track local payment rail coverage and local deposit success rates as regional metrics.
  • Utilize agentic AI tools (Cursor, Claude Code, Gemini, LibreChat, Glean, or equivalent) with human-in-the-loop practices to accelerate delivery.
  • Champion AI-native product development practices across the squad.
