Principal Product Manager, Engagement

Stash•New York, NY
•$190,000 - $230,000•Hybrid

About The Position

Stash exists to put a financial advisor in everyone's pocket: investing, banking, and personalized guidance in one app for everyday Americans to invest and save with confidence. Stash is hiring a Principal Product Manager for Engagement; the in-app experiences that help people decide what to invest in, how much to put in, and what to do next. You will be a senior individual contributor. You will set strategy, communicate the work Design and Engineering build from, and ship changes that show up in usage, retention, and subscription value. You will report to the Head of Product and partner closely with Design, Engineering, Data, Marketing, Compliance, and the other product managers on Engagement. This is an individual contributor role. You raise the bar through the work itself: the strategy, the writing, the experiments, and the critique and mentorship you give other PMs. This position operates on a hybrid schedule, requiring you to be on-site in our New York office at least three days per week to work with stakeholders and foster team collaboration.

Requirements

  • 8+ years in product management, with senior ownership of a consumer mobile and/or web product
  • You have personally shipped and iterated on a consumer app; you can talk about user and business impact with numbers
  • A track record on engagement, retention, or subscription value
  • Strong experimentation practice and fluency with product analytics (Mixpanel, Looker, or similar)
  • Clear communication when scope is still fuzzy; you prioritize by customer value, business impact, and effort
  • A strong partner to engineering, design, marketing, and data
  • You use AI in your PM workflow today, or you are ready to adopt it here
  • You are comfortable owning outcomes end to end as an individual contributor

Nice To Haves

  • Subscription or other recurring-revenue consumer business
  • Fintech, investing, banking, or another regulated consumer product
  • Products built around habits and automation

Responsibilities

  • Own strategy and delivery for Engagement on web and mobile: what to invest in, how much to put in, and what to do next
  • Write PRDs Design and Engineering can build from; partner on flows, scope, and tradeoffs when the answer is not obvious yet
  • Define success metrics, instrument funnels, and run experiments; use Mixpanel, Looker, and cohort analysis to decide what to ship, stop, or scale
  • Work across team lines when the customer does: activation into the app, guidance into investing, subscription value into habit
  • Partner with Marketing so lifecycle messaging and the in-app experience tell one story
  • Ship in a regulated consumer fintech environment; partner with compliance and legal so the work can move
  • Coach other PMs on Engagement through critique and pairing
  • Use AI tools in day-to-day PM work: drafting, synthesis, and exploring data and options

Benefits

  • Comprehensive total rewards package, comprising compensation (salary and equity) and health care benefits
  • Complimentary subscription to Stash+ account
  • Hybrid Work Policy – We operate a hybrid work environment in NYC that prioritizes time together in the office to strengthen teamwork, innovation, and culture, while still allowing for work-from-home flexibility.

  • Enhanced health and wellness benefits through One Medical, Gympass, and Maven Health
