Principal Product Manager, Developer Platform

Procore Technologies•Austin, TX
•$198,240 - $272,580•Onsite

About The Position

We're looking for a Principal Product Manager who thinks like an engineer, advocates for developers, and builds like a founder — to reshape Procore's development platform for the AI era. In this role you'll shape the future of Procore's development platform by treating our 1,000+ internal developers as your customers, and the developer platform as your product. You'll own the developer platform roadmap. You'll know our developers better than anyone — what they're building, where they stall, what they've stopped bothering to ask for — and you'll turn that into a point of view sharp enough to change what gets built across Procore. And you'll build it for a second customer almost nobody has designed for yet: the thousands of agents those developers are running. Human in the loop, not human in the driver's seat. That's what makes this rare. Most platform PMs are optimizing a portal. You'll be designing the interface between an engineering organization and its agents — at the exact moment that interface is being invented. Get it right and 1,000 engineers feel it every single day.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience building infrastructure, platform, or developer tools at SaaS scale, with a proven track record of building a platform that was adopted and utilized.
  • Previous experience as an engineer, architect, SRE, or in DevRel.
  • Hands-on expertise across the modern technology stack including Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD, GitOps, and secrets management.
  • Deep understanding of observability tools and practices, including OpenTelemetry, distributed tracing, metrics and logging pipelines, and associated aggregators.
  • A history of publicly sharing opinions and decisions, with evidence of their impact and adoption.
  • Active involvement in external communities such as CNCF and platform-engineering groups.
  • Understanding of how agentic development impacts platform requirements.
  • Ability to collaborate with senior engineers to understand their architectures and co-create solutions.
  • Experience working in an Austin, TX office.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing the interface between an engineering organization and its agents in the context of AI.

Responsibilities

  • Define and build golden paths for development, testing, and deployment that are consistent across languages like Ruby or Go.
  • Ensure preview environments function seamlessly.
  • Create pipelines that developers do not want to escape.
  • Develop infrastructure that responds within minutes, allowing developers to declare needs that are resolved within policy envelopes.
  • Transform provisioning from a request process to a capability engineers can call.
  • Implement security, compliance, and cost management as integrated platform features rather than additional burdens, using policy as code and automated remediation.
  • Ensure all services are born instrumented and attributed, with dashboards, alerts, visible spend, and telemetry that agents can utilize.
  • Design and build an agent-native platform with typed, discoverable capabilities accessible by both humans and agents through the same interfaces and audit trails.
  • Establish the platform's point of view and direction, creating a standard for how development is done at the company that engineers will want to use.

Benefits

  • Equity Compensation
  • Bonus Incentive Compensation
