About The Position

The U.S. licensing landscape is a fragmented mix of federal, state, county, city, and special-district requirements each with different rules, agencies, forms, fees, and renewal cycles. Multiply that by hundreds of industries and the research universe becomes extremely complex. Historically, solving this meant large research operations reading government sources by hand, and even then the customer got little more than an instruction set. Bizee already sells business-license research through our formation funnel, with strong existing demand. Distribution demand is also emerging through our partner ecosystem and Bizee Pro. The ambition is not a better report. It's an always-on compliance platform that understands what a business does, determines what it needs to stay licensed, helps complete the work, monitors what changes, and keeps the business compliant over time.

Requirements

  • Experience building or scaling a zero-to-one product, business, regulated workflow, fintech product, legaltech product, vertical SaaS platform, or similarly complex operating system.
  • End-to-end ownership: naturally take responsibility for the outcome, not just your functional piece of it.
  • Zero-to-one judgment: know how to turn ambiguity into hypotheses, experiments, evidence, decisions, and products.
  • Commercial instincts: understand customers, pricing, packaging, unit economics, distribution, and P&L.
  • AI fluency: comfortable discussing evaluation, precision and recall, confidence thresholds, feedback loops, labeled data, human-in-the-loop systems, and model economics. Understand AI product leadership is much more than prompt writing.
  • Analytical depth: know how to establish baselines, design experiments, challenge assumptions, and make decisions from imperfect evidence.
  • Operational rigor: can turn a model into a reliable operating system involving software, data, humans, customers, and regulatory controls.
  • Comfort with regulated complexity: do not simplify away the edge cases that determine whether a compliance product can actually be trusted.
  • Bias for action: would rather test the hardest assumption quickly than spend months creating a perfect strategy deck.
  • High standards and low ego: challenge assumptions, change your mind when the evidence changes, and care more about getting the answer right than being right.

Nice To Haves

  • Taken a product from zero to one in a regulated category (compliance, licensing, legaltech, fintech, tax, insurance)
  • Built or operated a human-in-the-loop AI system in production and can talk about its confidence calibration and economics
  • Owned a P&L or run a business unit, not just a roadmap
  • Direct compliance or licensing domain experience

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the single-threaded owner combining the responsibilities of a senior Product Lead and GM.
  • Own the initiative end-to-end including customer experience, technology, and economics.
  • Be accountable for outcomes across Product, Engineering, AI/Data, Compliance, Operations, Partnerships, and Finance.
  • Prove or disprove the thesis in 90 days by leading a small, senior, cross-functional pod to answer key questions with evidence regarding AI/ML system accuracy, operating loop establishment, economic viability, and business model validation.
  • Scale the business after the initial 90-day mission, with a path toward GM, Compliance.
  • Own the business case end to end: customer discovery, market opportunity, product strategy, pricing and packaging, unit economics, build-versus-buy, distribution strategy, and the Phase 0 investment case.
  • Own the design of a conversational discovery experience that captures the business context required for an accurate compliance determination.
  • Own the strategy for turning Bizee's archive of historical license orders and completed reports into a labeled evaluation set, training data, and the seed of a compliance graph (in partnership with Legal, Data, and Compliance).
  • Own the regulatory operating model which includes accuracy thresholds, liability framework, and human-review requirements.
  • Lead the Phase 0 pod: a small, senior, cross-functional team whose combined output you're accountable for.
