About The Position

The Principal Product Designer will own the end-to-end design of Prolaio's products, from early-stage discovery through polished, production-ready interfaces. This is a foundational hire at a critical stage of growth. The role involves being the design voice, collaborating with Product & Engineering, and delivering work that meets the needs of clinicians and patients. This individual contributor role is ideal for a seasoned generalist comfortable with ambiguity and confident in using their craft to create clarity. A strong candidate will be skilled in gathering requirements, building information architecture, and crafting high-fidelity UI. The Principal Product Designer will define and drive long-term product vision and design strategy for multiple products, lead complex, ambiguous design problems, and partner with Product Manager and Engineering teams. They will also collaborate with clinical, regulatory, and legal teams, design high-fidelity mockups and interactive prototypes, and update the organization on product design progress.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of product or UX/UI design experience.
  • 3 years in a senior or principal-level role.
  • Portfolio demonstrating end-to-end of complex product design, ranging from long term product vision, to detailed execution.
  • Hands-on experience designing for regulated industries, preferably medical devices, health IT, or clinical software.
  • Strong organization, written, and verbal communication skills, including ability to document design rationale and detailed specifications.
  • Working understanding of product management and development processes, with demonstrated experience collaborating with those disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive long-term product vision and design strategy for multiple products.
  • Lead complex, ambiguous design problems from conceptual exploration through detailed execution.
  • Partner with Product Manager and Engineering teams to conduct workshops, feature definition, and stakeholder management.
  • Collaborate with clinical, regulatory, and legal teams to translate user needs into design artifacts and specifications.
  • Design high-fidelity mockups and interactive prototypes for user research and development handoff.
  • Update organization regularly on product design progress.
  • Represent the design perspective for broad, non-technical audience.
