About The Position

The Principal Product Designer will own the end-to-end design of Prolaio's products, from early-stage discovery through polished, production-ready interfaces. This is a foundational hire at a critical stage of growth. The role involves being the design voice in the room, adhering to standards, collaborating with Product & Engineering, and delivering work that meets the needs of both clinicians and patients. This individual contributor role is suited for a seasoned generalist comfortable with ambiguity and confident in using their craft to create clarity. A strong candidate will be skilled in gathering requirements, building information architecture, and crafting high-fidelity UI.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of product or UX/UI design experience, including 3 years in a senior or principal-level role.
  • Portfolio demonstrating end-to-end of complex product design, ranging from long term product vision, to detailed execution.
  • Hands-on experience designing for regulated industries, preferably medical devices, health IT, or clinical software.
  • Strong organization, written, and verbal communication skills, including ability to document design rationale and detailed specifications.
  • Working understanding of product management and development processes, with demonstrated experience collaborating with those disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive long-term product vision and design strategy for multiple products.
  • Lead complex, ambiguous design problems from conceptual exploration through detailed execution.
  • Partner with Product Manager and Engineering teams to conduct workshops, feature definition, and stakeholder management.
  • Collaborate with clinical, regulatory, and legal teams to translate user needs into design artifacts and specifications.
  • Design high-fidelity mockups and interactive prototypes for user research and development handoff.
  • Update organization regularly on product design progress.
  • Represent the design perspective for broad, non-technical audience.
