About The Position

As a principal PCB design engineer, you will lead the design and delivery of complex RF/microwave and advanced PCB layout projects, working closely with cross-functional product teams to achieve high-quality hardware solutions. This role combines deep technical expertise in RF, high-speed digital, and power PCB design with mentorship of junior designers, continuous evaluation of new technologies, and collaboration across global engineering teams.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of hands-on experience in PCB layout.
  • Specialized experience with RF/microwave PCB design, including knowledge of grounding, shielding, and transmission lines.
  • Familiarity with high-speed/high-density digital and high-power/high-current analog layout practices.
  • Good communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future. Individuals with temporary visas such as E, F-1 (including those with OPT or CPT), H-1, H-2, L-1, B, J or TN, or who need sponsorship for work authorization now or in the future, are not eligible for hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors degree in any STEM courses
  • Experience with the Siemenx Xpedition toolset.
  • Wire bond design (e.g. Siemens Xpedition Advanced Packaging tools).
  • RF/microwave simulation tools (e.g. AWR, CST).
  • Other signal or power integrity tools (e.g. Hyperlynx or Hyperlynx DRC).
  • Hands-on experience with high-speed/high-density digital and/or high-power/high-current analog layout.
  • Comparative experience with other (non-Xpedition) platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with principal and chief engineers in various hardware roles, contributing expertise to enhance overall project outcomes.
  • Independently complete RF/microwave and other complex layout projects following the inputs and guidance of the product team.
  • Help mentor junior engineers in the PCB design process to foster professional development, emphasizing effective communication and collaboration.
  • Independently evaluate and learn new PCB design tools & technologies.
  • Accommodate occasional evening meetings for training, mentorship, collaboration, and design review, considering the global nature of Emerson's operations.
