Principal Operations Research Engineer

RTX•McKinney, TX
•$107,500 - $204,500•Onsite

About The Position

Raytheon’s Mission Engineering organization is integrating threat expertise, mission decomposition, architectures, technology evaluation, modeling and simulation, operations analysis, mission planners, and visualization into a unified mission thread. This role contributes analysis and technical leadership to inform program decisions, mission understanding, capability roadmaps, and support to the warfighter. The engineer develops analytic approaches and model-based solutions for mission trade studies, and develops and integrates variable-fidelity models and simulations to represent system and system-of-systems effects in complex threat environments. The role evaluates end-to-end system needs, interfaces, and data connectivity across the kill chain; models mission and system kill chains; develops metrics and results products; and implements algorithms for system-of-systems performance. The position works collaboratively with program teams, customers, and other stakeholders and is onsite in McKinney, Texas.

Requirements

  • A degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and typically at least 8 years of relevant experience, unless prohibited by local laws or regulations.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python, MATLAB, Shell, and/or Perl.
  • Experience with government or industry modeling and simulation tools, including AFSIM, OneSAF, Brawler, STK, or similar.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government-issued Secret security clearance required before the start date; U.S. citizenship is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with software development, object-oriented design, C/C++ and/or Java in Unix or Linux operating environments.
  • Experience with the Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, mission areas such as Space, Air, or Land, or systems such as radar, electro-optical, and infrared sensing systems.
  • Experience providing briefs and presentations to internal or external stakeholders or customers.
  • Active Top Secret clearance.
  • Experience with Military Operations Analysis, Modeling & Simulation, and/or data analysis and visualization.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate in a team environment and develop and implement analytic approaches that generate supporting data for programmatic decisions.
  • Develop and implement model-based solutions for mission trade studies using mission- and engagement-level simulations.
  • Develop and integrate variable-fidelity computer models and simulations that capture system and system-of-systems effects in complex threat environments.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to support customer satisfaction and business alignment.
  • Evaluate end-to-end system needs to identify system interfaces and data connectivity requirements across the kill chain.
  • Model system and mission kill chains using government, commercial, and Raytheon simulations.
  • Develop metrics and results products that communicate the chain of events leading to an action.
  • Implement algorithms to provide next-generation performance across the system of systems.
