About The Position

Fluidstack is seeking a Principal Operations Engineer, Reliability to join their Data Center Operations Team. This role is crucial for operating at the scale of a nation, managing a fleet that will draw more power than some countries, with the goal of reaching 100 GW. The team operates in a dynamic environment where sites come online in pieces, requiring the ability to maintain flawless operation of live sites while construction continues. This position involves writing the playbook, as no prior operations organization has operated at this speed and scale, setting the standards for the industry. The scope of the role includes owning fleet reliability engineering, defining and measuring availability targets, and driving improvements. It also involves conducting root cause analysis on major incidents, implementing corrective actions, building a failure data pipeline to inform engineering priorities, and setting maintenance strategies based on failure data.

Requirements

Owned reliability for critical infrastructure and moved the availability number, not just reported it.
Led root cause analyses that found the real cause, not the convenient one.
Work fluently with failure data: Weibull, Pareto, and FMEA are tools you actually use, not terms you know.
Get corrective actions closed across teams you don't manage.

Responsibilities

Own fleet reliability engineering: define availability targets, measure them honestly, and close the gap.
Run root cause analysis on the fleet's worst incidents and drive corrective actions to done across every site.
Build the failure data pipeline, facility and hardware both, that turns incident history into engineering priorities.
Set the maintenance strategy (reliability-centered, condition-based) so the fleet spends effort where the failure data says to.
