About The Position

As a Principal, Mechanical Engineer at Introba, you will be a visionary leader helping shape the future of sustainable infrastructure across BC and Western Canada. You will lead a high-performing team delivering mission-driven projects on our healthcare team—while contributing to innovation, mentorship, and meaningful client relationships. You will initially integrate with an established team of mechanical designers and engineers, ranging from Junior Designer to Principal.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of mechanical design experience, including major institutional and healthcare projects
  • Proven team leadership experience with at least 5 direct reports
  • University degree, college/technology diploma in Mechanical Engineering
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in British Columbia through EGBC

Nice To Haves

  • LEED AP and/or Passive House certification preferred
  • Strong community or industry presence through conferences, white papers, or pro bono leadership

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a growing team of mechanical engineers and designers.
  • Establish performance plans and KPIs (e.g. DLM, chargeability, technical quality).
  • Oversee team hiring, training, retention, compensation, and career progression.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team culture.
  • Set and manage project budgets, team revenue targets, and labour forecasts.
  • Monitor financial and operational metrics (e.g. WIP, write-downs, productivity).
  • Maintain team compliance with Introba’s QA/QC and best practices.
  • Ensure project plans and progress are maintained in Deltek (Introba's PM system).
  • Serve as principal liaison for key clients and high-profile projects.
  • Develop and secure new project opportunities in both core and emerging sectors.
  • Support and promote Introba's full multidisciplinary service offering.
  • Resolve client issues and lead contract negotiations as needed.
  • Provide oversight on technical quality and delivery for all mechanical systems.
  • Guide teams through procurement strategies and cost management.
  • Oversee construction contract administration and field reviews.
  • Promote technical innovation in smart building systems, energy optimization, and sustainability.
