Worley is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer - Nuclear in Markham, Ontario, with experience in the nuclear power industry. In Worley Canada East, this role reports to the Manager, Mechanical and Piping Engineering, and will support the Nuclear Section under the Nuclear Director of Engineering. You will partner with Design Team Leads and collaborate with cross-functional project teams and clients, while upholding Worley’s standards for safety, quality, and technical excellence. Requirements

  • Minimum 15 years of mechanical design experience in the nuclear industry, including refurbishment projects.
  • Extensive mechanical design engineering experience on nuclear projects, including refurbishment work for OPG and Bruce Power, with strong knowledge of industry regulations and best practices.
  • Proficiency in the design and modification of utility and process systems for nuclear power plants.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills demonstrated in regulated environments.
  • Demonstrated commitment to design excellence, safety, quality, and client outcomes.
  • Advanced understanding of nuclear safety principles, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to lead complex engineering scopes and develop practical solutions to technical challenges.
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement, project execution, and regulatory interactions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) is required.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting Bruce Power and/or OPG refurbishment projects.
  • Active Bruce Power and/or OPG security clearance.
  • Valid Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) license in Ontario.
  • Expertise in Engineering Change Control, technical documentation, and applicable regulatory standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of official OPG and/or Bruce Power safety training is considered a strong asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide principal-level mechanical engineering design and analysis for nuclear projects, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead and oversee mechanical design execution for nuclear projects, with a focus on refurbishment and upgrade scopes, to support safe and reliable performance.
  • Prepare, review, and approve technical specifications, calculations, drawings, and engineering documentation.
  • Prepare and review design packages, specifications, and technical reports for mechanical systems.
  • Support modifications and upgrades to existing nuclear facilities, including equipment selection and system integration.
  • Apply Engineering Change Control processes to manage design modifications with full traceability.
  • Perform engineering calculations and analyses to validate design solutions.
  • Apply applicable codes and standards relevant to Canadian nuclear power plants.
  • Apply CSA N299 and CSA N286 requirements in the preparation and review of engineering documents.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure design integration, schedule alignment, and support for required approvals.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical oversight to junior engineers and design teams.
  • Participate in regulatory audits, client meetings, and quality assurance activities.
  • Participate in risk assessments, design reviews, and constructability evaluations.
