About The Position

This role involves technical ownership of engineered-to-order machinery. The engineer will translate customer requirements into concepts and 3D layouts, model assemblies in SolidWorks, develop fabrication drawings and bills of materials, and run calculations to validate loads, stresses, flow, and system performance. The position also requires supporting fabrication and assembly on the floor, collaborating with Electrical and Controls Engineering for seamless integration, mentoring engineers, preparing for Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), and troubleshooting performance issues to ensure smooth installation, startup, and commissioning for customers.

Requirements

  • Significant (10+ years preferred) experience in mechanical design or project engineering
  • Proven background with industrial machinery, capital equipment, or engineered-to-order systems (required)
  • Advanced SolidWorks or comparable 3D CAD proficiency
  • Expertise producing manufacturing drawings, complex assemblies, and BOMs
  • Strong knowledge of machining, welding, fabricated assemblies, and mechanical design principles
  • Experience supporting equipment from design through manufacturing and field installation
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred
  • Willingness to travel overnight several times per year
  • Authorized to work in the United States

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to FEA, CFD, structural analysis, piping, or thermal systems is a plus

Responsibilities

  • End-to-end mechanical design of custom industrial machinery and capital equipment
  • Conversion of customer specifications into practical engineering solutions
  • Development of concepts, equipment layouts, 3D models, and detailed manufacturing drawings
  • Creation of assemblies, fabrication drawings, and BOMs using SolidWorks
  • Design of structural frames, vessels, piping, and related mechanical subsystems
  • Engineering calculations for loads, stresses, flow, and system performance
  • Material and component selection including pumps, valves, actuators, and mechanical hardware
  • Cross-functional integration with Electrical and Controls disciplines
  • Hands-on support during fabrication, assembly, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Participation in FAT, installation, startup, and commissioning activities
  • Coaching and development of engineers while driving continuous design improvements
