About The Position

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team, supporting the development and execution of Common CAS hardware within the PCAS organization. This onsite role, based in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, will involve collaboration with engineering and other functional teams to deliver innovative solutions for defense and aerospace applications.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience
  • Experience supporting or leading technical activities on Department of Defense (DoD) or aerospace programs.
  • Experience with mechanical design tools and engineering processes.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Active and existing security clearance required after day 1

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in a relevant technical discipline.
  • Experience with CAS hardware, actuation systems, or advanced mechanical assemblies.
  • Experience building collaborative networks and leading teams through technical challenges.
  • Experience with proposals, risk management, and Control Account Management (CAM) responsibilities.
  • Presentation, communication, and technical writing skills.
  • Program Management experience or certification.
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to the design, modeling, analysis, and documentation of mechanical systems for CAS hardware.
  • Support the development and technical execution of the Common CAS product line.
  • Provide technical oversight and resolve engineering challenges throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Ensure adherence to engineering processes, standards, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with teams across Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, and Program Management.
  • Participate in resource planning, design reviews, manufacturing readiness, and integration activities.
  • Communicate risks, progress, and technical status to leadership and program stakeholders.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and product affordability efforts.
