In this exciting role as a Mechanical Design Engineer II supporting the Cardiac Ablation Solutions organization, you will have responsibility for supporting the inspection and test plan used by the lab technicians executing product analysis of returned product. The Engineer will be capable of working on complaint investigations with limited supervision. He or she will exhibit an ability to interact with co-workers in a way that facilitates sharing of information and timely resolution to complaint investigations. The Engineer shall be capable of interfacing with various manufacturing sites and facilitate the transfer of information in a timely manner. The Cardiac Ablations Solutions Unit develops life-restoring therapies and healthcare solutions that span the care continuum; integrating technologies and applying clinical and economic evidence to increase patient access, improve efficiency of procedures and deliver successful patient outcomes. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, technology, engineering, or math and a minimum of 3 years product design/NPI experience; or an advanced degree in science, technology, engineering, or math with 1 years of technical experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in CAD tools such as SolidWorks.
  • Strong knowledge of metal and plastic component manufacturing processes.
  • Good understanding of medical device standards, guidelines, and regulations, such as: FDA 21 CFR 820 and ISO 13485.
  • Experience with IEC 60601-1 and ISO 15223-1.
  • Experience with product risk management and ISO 14971.
  • Experience with issue investigation and CAPAs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement mechanical design improvements for released products, including changes that enhance system reliability and scalable manufacturing.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with other stakeholders including program managers, manufacturing and quality as well as external suppliers on CAPAs, issue investigation, component selection and manufacturing.
  • Participate with other stakeholders during test method validation, design verification and validation.
  • Apply Design for Reliability and Manufacturability (DRM) methodologies to all aspects of the design/development process.
  • Create 3D models of parts and release engineering drawings, reports, and presentations.
  • Lead cross-functional technical teams for investigations into product and process issues, using structured root-cause analysis to define and implement effective corrective actions.
