About The Position

Raytheon Vision Systems is seeking a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer for its onsite Goleta, California location. The role develops opto-mechanical assemblies from initial concepts through final part design using 3D solid modeling, and supports product development and manufacturing across demanding program schedules and cost constraints. Initial planned duties may include manufacturing support in a Sustaining or Liaison Engineering role. The engineer performs design-for-manufacturability trade studies, works with structural and thermal analysts to optimize product survival and reliability, and produces 2D Technical Data Package documentation from solid models. The role also creates initial releases and revisions in a Product Data Management system, tracks drawing-release milestones, and communicates assignment status to management and the Integrated Product Team. The engineer may occasionally delegate assignments to less experienced engineers and review their work. This position is onsite in Goleta, CA. U.S. citizenship is required because only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under the program or contract. The posting lists security clearance as not required, although a later section says the position requires security clearance.
