About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the Automotive Maintenance Supervisor, this position involves performing various semi-skilled tasks related to fleet operations, including routine maintenance and repairs at the fuel island, washing buses, receiving fuel deliveries, cleaning and maintaining fuel sites, preparing county vehicles for surplus, and maintaining buildings and equipment. The role also includes participating in the preparation and upkeep of records related to repair work, work orders, status updates, and labor charges. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two years of experience in fuel island maintenance, bus washing, receiving fuel, cleaning, and maintaining fuel sites, preparing county vehicles for surplus, and building and equipment maintenance, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Ability to make independent decisions following departmental policies and procedures
  • Capability to understand and follow both written and oral instructions
  • Must be physically capable of performing demanding tasks daily, including walking up and down stairs, standing for long periods, squatting, bending, twisting, stretching, crawling, reaching overhead, and working in awkward positions
  • Ability to lift weights between 50 to 100 pounds and to use hand and power tools
  • Must be willing to work in adverse weather conditions and extreme temperatures
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B with air brakes, as well as endorsements for P and S, within 9 months of employment
  • Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required
  • Records must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the twenty-four months preceding the anticipated hire date, or one major violation of six demerit points within the preceding thirty-six months
  • Out-of-state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview
  • Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date
  • Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check, and education/degree verification required
  • This position is a federally regulated DOT position and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing
  • The use of medical marijuana for this position is prohibited
