About The Position

As part of Atlassian’s DevAI team, the Principal Machine Learning Engineer will help innovate core intelligence solutions for developer AI products. The role involves integrating large language models (LLMs), prompt engineering, and developing end-to-end AI features using advanced technologies. The engineer will collaborate with scientists, software engineers, and partner teams across the company to deliver developer AI products. The position combines strategic problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration with hands-on design, development, evaluation, implementation, optimization, monitoring, and maintenance of machine learning solutions. Atlassian allows employees to choose to work in an office, from home, or a combination of the two, and can hire in countries where it has a legal entity.

Responsibilities

Identify complex challenges and develop creative solutions to advance product capabilities and functionality.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists and software engineers, and build sustainable partnerships across technical disciplines.
Communicate technical details effectively and contribute ideas and solutions in technical discussions.
Stay current with machine learning, AI, and related technology research and apply relevant advancements to product innovation.
Design LLM-based methodologies and algorithms tailored to product needs.
Perform data preprocessing and feature engineering to improve product inputs and performance.
Conduct experiments and evaluate product performance using metrics and testing methods to verify design specifications.
Implement and optimize machine learning pipelines.
Monitor and maintain deployed intelligence solutions to ensure their accuracy and efficiency.
Integrate LLMs, engineer prompts, and develop end-to-end AI features for DevAI products.
