Principal High-Speed Analog Circuit Design Engineer

Celero Communications•San Jose, CA

About The Position

The Principal High-Speed Analog Circuit Design Engineer will architect and design circuits for high-performance transceivers and other critical analog functions supporting next-generation high-speed interconnect technology. The role is with a fast-growing startup and involves high-speed mixed-signal circuit design for next-generation optical transceivers. Responsibilities include designing high-speed analog circuits and custom passive components, supervising analog layouts in advanced process nodes, creating system verification plans and circuit design specifications, and supporting silicon bring-up and debug. The engineer will also communicate with the team and document work.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree and/or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience.
  • Strong analog design fundamentals and experience designing analog circuit blocks for broadband amplification, clock generation and distribution, and/or fundamental analog blocks.
  • Experience with analog design and verification tools, including Virtuoso, Spectre, ADE, and post-layout extraction tools.
  • Experience with advanced CMOS design and verification flows, including tools for evaluating self-heating, electromigration, and safe operating area.
  • Knowledge of electromagnetism fundamentals, lumped models, and high-frequency design.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with electromagnetic simulation tools such as EMX, Momentum, or HFSS.
  • Good understanding of analog layouts in FinFET and their effect on high-speed designs.

Responsibilities

  • Design high-speed analog circuits, including broadband amplifiers such as VGA, CTLE, and DRV.
  • Design clock generation and distribution circuits, including VCOs, PLLs, and clock distribution.
  • Design fundamental analog blocks such as bandgap references, LDOs, and temperature sensors.
  • Develop new techniques for next-generation optical transceivers.
  • Design custom passive components from concept through silicon implementation.
  • Supervise analog layouts within advanced process nodes.
  • Perform system verification and create circuit design specifications.
  • Support silicon bring-up and debug.
  • Communicate with the team and document work.
