This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations and management of the Environmental Follow-up Component of lead cases. It involves supervising Health Inspectors, ensuring timely investigation and abatement of lead exposure sources, and providing data to support the Director in reports and grant applications. The role also focuses on the quality of environmental follow-up counseling and advocacy, assisting with program policy development, and clarifying inspection and deleading policies. The Principal Health Inspector reviews daily reports, assists inspectors with challenging cases, spot-checks field performance, and ensures timely enforcement proceedings. Additionally, this role provides technical assistance to private inspectors and contractors, assists Directors with program implementation, counsels various stakeholders on environmental public health law and safety, facilitates collaboration with ISD, and assists with recruitment and training. The position also encourages information exchange between staff and agencies, investigates public complaints, and performs other duties as required. Direct client/patient contact is involved, with recommended/required immunizations prior to employment.
