Requirements

  • Degree in Health (for example: Psychology, Occupational Health, Physiotherapy) and/or Industrial Hygiene discipline
  • Demonstrated experience in a construction, mining operational or functional heavy industry role with successful leadership of multi-disciplinary teams and joint ventures
  • Working knowledge of engineering, contracts & procurement, construction, commissioning, project controls, & community and risk multi-discipline workflows and interactions for large capital projects
  • Experience managing change initiatives
  • Ability to communicate with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders including functional leads on the project, clients, outside vendors and contractors
  • Professional memberships with Occupational Hygiene association and/or health professional registration

Responsibilities

  • Directs and implements improvements to injury management and workers compensation activities/processes to optimize the services provided to impacted workers.
  • Implements improvements to existing health service provisions (e.g. pre-employment assessments) to improve their compliance and effectiveness.
  • Designs and implements improvements to health related systems, processes and resources to optimize their compliance and effectiveness.
  • Co-designs and implements Psychosocial Harm risk framework, take accountability for Person Centered Response and Support to optimize effectiveness and mitigate harm to impacted persons.
  • Provides specialist/functional expertise to leadership on health related programs/initiatives/controls (e.g. fitness for work, fatigue management) to embed measures that create a strong health and wellbeing culture across BHP.
  • Ensures hygiene sampling requirements including associated contractor management.
  • Governs the development and enhancements of health and hygiene procedures and training.
  • Develops health improvement strategies at BHP to effectively manage the health of personnel either on and off site (e.g. mental health strategies).
  • Coordinates critical rhythms and routines that ensure an effective and efficient deployment of health and hygiene initiatives and delivery against KPIs.
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement and to standardize new ways of working and encourages team members to do the same.
  • Embeds processes to identify waste, remove barriers and challenge current practices.
  • Builds team capability through coaching, providing continuous feedback and leveraging strengths to build trust and increase performance.
